What I Believe

The Holy Trinity. I believe in the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 8:6, Matthew 28:19, John 14:15-16)

One God. I believe there is only one God who created all things and that we were created to worship, love Him and have an intimate relationship with Him. (Genesis 2:1, Exodus 20:2-4)

The Fall of Mankind. I believe that mankind is made in God’s image but that mankind’s relationship with God was broken when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. And I believe that all of mankind has sinned with the exception of Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 3:1-6, Romans 3:23)

Jesus Christ is Our Lord. I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and also God in the flesh, born of virgin Mary, free from all sin. He saved mankind from eternal damnation. I believe He died on the cross for our sins (to restore our relationship with God) and was raised from the dead. (John 1:1-5, Romans 10:9-10, Isaiah 53:5).

The Water Baptism. I believe that we should be baptized by water as an act of obedience and as a public commitment to Christ, symbolizing being born again, the forgiveness of sin, circumcision of the heart, Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection from the dead and the salvation for mankind through Christ Jesus. (Matthew 28:19, John 3:5, Acts 2:38, Colossians 2:11-12, Romans 6:3-5, 1 Peter 3:21)

The Spirit of Truth. I believe the Holy Spirit comes to live in those of us who accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and that the Spirit convicts us when we sin and reveals our need for repentance. (John 14:15-17, John 14:26, John 16:7)

God’s Instructions. I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. I believe it is the absolute truth–personal instructions from God to mankind on how to live on a daily basis and be made right with Him. I also believe that it equips us to know God more intimately and helps us in our walk to become more like Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:14-17)

The Power of Salvation. I believe that by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and by turning away from our sins, we can be forgiven, saved and have eternal life. I believe that this is a free gift only possible through Christ Jesus. (Romans 10:9-10, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21, Revelation 21:7-8)

The Second Coming. I believe that Jesus Christ will come again and judge us (the world) for our sins and rule as our eternal King forever. And that He will separate the believers from unbelievers for eternity. I believe the saved will have eternal life and the unsaved will have eternal death. (Matthew 25:31-46, John 14:1-4, Acts 17:31, Revelation 19:11-21)

The Holy Church. I believe that those of us who place our faith in Christ are baptized by the Holy Spirit and become a unified body of believers.. I believe that as a church we are to gather together worship, praise God, pray and teach God’s word. I believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and we should build each other up in the gifts given to us by God through outreach, communion and baptism. (1 Corinthians 12:12-14, Ephesians 5:23, Colossians 1:18)

How to Get Saved

9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

– Romans 10:9-13 (NLT)

My Favorite Way to Read the Bible

If you”re looking for a great Bible, I use the Life Applications Study Bible (New Living Translation). I use it to study God’s Word, grow in faith and get a closer relationship with Him.

I love this Bible because it’s easy to understand and has footnotes (words of wisdom) at the bottom of each page that help me overcome my daily struggles.

The footnotes also explain the meaning behind a lot of the scriptures in the Bible that are difficult to understand. The lessons that you read here on GMIM actually come from this Bible.
